Situated at Playa de San Juan, very near to Alicante, this modern, balanced course and was designed by Severiano Ballesteros.
The course has a par of 72, with six par-3s, six par-4s and six par-5s. The main feature of the course is the vast abundance of water, which makes for quite a tricky round.
The course is flat, not particularly strenuous and you can see the green on all of the holes. It has two unusual features: the first is the lake in the shape of an S (the initial of the designer) surrounding the green on the 9th; the second is the Roman ruins next to the 14th which the player has to clear to reach the green.
La Sella Golf is located on the slopes of a mountain, next to the Montgó natural park, surrounded by Mediterranean woodland and hills. Pine trees, orange trees, olives and almonds add colour to the course and, although they are pretty to look at, will cause big problems for less accurate players.
La Sella’s 18 holes par 72 course is not a particularly tiring one. It is varied and thought provoking, and moderate in length. If you know how to use all of your clubs, you will be able to get a good result here.
The course is suitable for players of all levels, with the difficulty apparent at the tees. However, pay attention! The designer, with the expert help of José María Olazábal, designed the course in such a way that if you miss the green, you will need all the virtuosity of the Spanish champion to save the par.
The Villaitana Levante championship course has been designed in American style by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. With its wide fairways, its exquisitely shaped greens, and its 6,576 metres, you will enjoy the fantastic views over the Mediterranean and Finestrat mountain range with every step you take.
The area is completely unspoilt so you will be able to enjoy your game in completely natural surroundings, with views of the sea and the mountains in the spectacular setting of the Levantine Mediterranean mountain range.
The Villaitana Poniente course, with 18 holes, a par of 62, and 3,674 metres in length, lies on the slope of a beautiful valley of Mediterranean pines, with views of the sea and the mountains.
The way golf legend Jack Nicklaus designed it, makes it a great golfing experience for players of all levels regardless of their handicap.
This is a shorter round than Villaitana’s ‘Levante’ championship course, but is no less exciting. The Poniente course requires a greater mastery of the short irons. Also, it is very demanding on players with a low handicap, although all of the holes offer alternatives to players with medium and high handicaps.
Designed and built by Severiano Ballesteros, the Oliva Nova Golf Club course extends to around 50 hectares.
It is a par 72 links course of 6,350 m with a slope of 120, the main characteristic of which is that 15 of its 18 holes include water obstacles. The only holes that have no water obstacles are numbers 2, 13 and 14.
This is a technical course over gently undulating ground. It is easy to walk, and adheres to the traditional formula of four par 3's, four par 5's and ten par 4's, where good strokes are rewarded and bad ones are not, and, as Severiano himself says: "This course offers great possibilities to all golfers, as it has short, medium and long holes, and fairways with left and right doglegs. I think it poses a challenge to any golfer." The amen corner of the course is at the 13th, 14th and 15th holes, where strategy and the wind are determining factors.
The Ifach golf course is situated in Moraira (Benissa) on a country estate that offers you the best views in the Valencia region. It has a round of nine holes (6 par 3 and 3 par 4) and even though the holes are short, the terrain and the narrow fairways make them quite difficult and technical.
However, two rounds can be managed easily and you will be able to enjoy your game while admiring the view of the Peñón de Ifach rock and the sun sparkling on the Mediterranean Sea. The position of the trees and bunkers makes some holes more difficult and introduces variety into how the holes have to be played. The course was designed in such a way as to make it necessary to use all of your clubs. It requires great control, not only on the drive but also in the short game.
The round is not too hard for beginners, nor too tiring in the summer season. Because of its short holes, Ifach is popular amongst older golfers and people who don’t have the time for long rounds of golf.
